The third instalment of senseFly’s agriculture-focused webinar series brings together agricultural research experts for inspiring discussions about drone use and best practices

Cheseaux-Lausanne, Switzerland, March 14, 2018—senseFly, the leading provider of professional drone solutions, is hosting a free educational webinar focused on improving agricultural research outcomes and efficiency at 11:00 EST / 16:00 GMT+1 on Tuesday, March 20.

During this live online event, experts from the National University of Rosario (Argentina), the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (USA) and U.A.S Jena (Germany) will discuss how they use drone technology for agricultural research, while sharing tips based on their extensive experience. Attendees must register in advance here for the one-hour webinar, entitled Ag Drone Insights 3.

“Since the first webinar in our Ag Drone Insights series back in January 2017, we’ve seen more and more agricultural professionals successfully use drone technology to gain deeper insights and increase efficiency,” said Jean-Christophe Zufferey, senseFly Co-founder and CEO. “This educational session will be a platform for sharing knowledge and engaging current and future researchers, agronomists and growers.”

    Webinar attendees will learn:

    • How drone-sourced data can improve objectivity
    • Where agricultural drones fit into the remote sensing ecosystem
    • How drones are being used in teaching/educational environments
    • How drone technology can boost the speed & frequency of field trial assessments
    • What positional accuracy is achievable with drone-sourced data
    • How drone data can be analysed (and what software it is compatible with)

    Meet the speakers:

Néstor Di Leo, an agricultural engineer and graduate of the Agronomy College at Argentina’s National University of Rosario, is also a professor and researcher at the same institution. He develops functions in land management, applied remote sensing and GIS. His main interests include the application of geotechnologies, such as mapping drones, in the monitoring of natural resources and agro-ecosystems, site-specific management (spanning pasture & various crops), and precision agriculture.

At the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Amanda Shine is finishing an M.S. degree in Agronomy. Her research has focused on both the macro- and micro-scale processes that drive nutrient cycling in grazed ecosystems, as well as the spatial and temporal patterns of nutrient distribution under different grazing management strategies. She holds a B.A. in Biology from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and a B.S. in Agriculture from Cameron University, in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Dr. Perner is the CEO of U.A.S. Umwelt- und Agrarstudien GmbH, an organisation that acts as an interface between basic and applied research and to accelerate the process of bringing ecological research knowledge into practice and services. Its main activities include conducting agricultural field trials, biometrical studies, applied research projects in fields such as soil erosion, agro-ecology, bio monitoring etc., and agricultural and environmental consulting.
